Up until recently Maison Close were pretty hard to come by in the UK but thanks to UK distributor and online lingerie boutique, Naughty Knickers, you can now purchase full Maison Close collections here in Britain.

Toot's Birthday Lingerie Lust-List!

My 20th birthday is coming up this Saturday and I'm incredibly excited already! Spent the last few days gawking over pretty things that I will be able to buy once it comes round and unsurprisingly, most of this stuff is lingerie! No doubt on Saturday I will be dragging my poor (but very lovely) boyfriend around Harrods and Selfridges looking at luxury lingerie and possibly some lingerie boutiques if we get round to it! However, these are the pieces that have caught my eye lately and will possibly be treating myself to... Happy birthday me! Oh and I promise that after my birthday, any new and favourite pieces I've purchased will certainly be making an appearance on the blog!

If you're a regular on the Kiss Me Deadly website, you've probably seen - or even purchased - corsets by Ava Corsetry and not even realised. With degrees and experience in fashion and period costuming, Danielle is the accomplished corset maker responsible for Kiss Me Deadly's corsets (which you can find here).
Now, as well as continuing her line of corsets for Toots & Booty's favourite UK lingerie brand, she has launched a brand of her own: Ava Corsetry.

From the initial spark of, 'well I guess I'd better start buying big-girl panties now that I've got a boyfriend and all...' to the shocking realisation, 'oh my knickers, lingerie shopping is actually damn cool!', my private relationship with - let's just call him Handsome Boy - coincided perfectly with my relationship with undies.

eBay Lingerie Finds

I know there are probably a few of you sitting there thinking "eh? What kind of crazy bitch buys their undies on ebay?" well I'm a crazy bitch and you'll thank me later for it. Ebay is a wondrous site where you can find pieces for low or discounted prices, pieces that have gone out of season or are sold out, and even versions of designs you like but are out of reach, all at the click of the button and the majority of bits I have come across have been unworn and with tags. Do you miss this Bordelle limited edition Angela cage dress? Well here's a taste of what's to come.The reason I'm saying all this in great confidence is because I got this beautiful Bordelle bra for only £30, brand new, perfect. So here we go, I'm sharing these with you!

Lingerie Lesson: The Fully Fashioned Stocking

School may be out for summer but I have a little lesson for you! I promise it will be fascinating and sexy! It's certainly one I wish I was taught at school. What are fully fashioned stockings? What makes them different? Why are they so rare and expensive? Why do I need a pair?
This hosiery lesson begins at the heel of post-war nylon mania and runs in a - shall we say, linear - fashion right up to the, er, welt that is the elasticated nylon legwear of today. (I promise, I'm usually a good writer.)

Today I've spent hours doing 5 illustrations of just a small portion of our favourite brands! I enjoy fashion illustration so this was really fun for me and I hope you like them (and I also hope the brands don't mind that I turned their models into my illustrations!). I've been a bit rusty lately trying to get back in to drawing after a couple of weeks of taking a break, but I'm pretty pleased with the outcomes! The lingerie world is as fast-paced as any sector of fashion and we've missed a lot. So here's a little recap of what has caught my eye during sneaky lingerie-based procrastination sessions.

How to Dress Up Your Lingerie: Corselettes!

The corselette is the best of both a girdle and a brassiere. You can wear it without feeling like a Victorian queen when having to take off your several layers; your bra, your girdle, your knickers and waspie!You might also have heard it being called a "control slip" or "shape-wear dress". Actually, I should point out that the second picture (What Katie Did) is actually called a Merry Widow. Confused? Don't be. I have complied my top 3 desert island corselettes! Corselettes allow for beautiful design as well as functionality. Wearing one really feels like every bit of your tummy and hips are being hugged by someone very, very good looking. You can also easily attach it to your stockings, so no need for a suspender belt or girdle! All you need is knickers (if you really want) and stockings and you're all dressed up in the hottest lingerie ensemble. You might even feel tempted just to throw on a fur coat and leave the house but in case you're a bit more shy like me, here's a collection of ways to wear a corselette!

I know there's been a lot of buzz about the Mary Portas 'Kinky Knickers' collection and a general feeling in the world of small lingerie businesses that her outlook on manufacturing lingerie in the UK has been somewhat misinformed. This isn't something I initially wanted to blog about mainly because, firstly, as a mere lingerie fanatic and aspiring designer (in the very early days of my lingerie ambition), I don't have an in-depth knowledge and/or experience of the issue.
